Mixed media art is a visual art form that combines a variety of media in a single artwork. When creating a mixed media piece of art, an artist may first draw on a canvas with ink, then paint over it with acrylics or watercolors, and then add a substance like resin. This collaboration of paints and substances combined together is mixed media art.

Reverse painting on glass has been around for centuries. Reverse-painted art is created backwards on a clear glass panel. Each piece is created back to front. The artist paints on the back side of the glass, which is why it is also called “back-painted glass art”. Details are painted first rather than last. Then, layers of color and shading with various paints and mixed media are applied working backward instead of forward as with traditional canvas painting. Letters and images are painted in mirror image, so they are correct when viewed from the front side. When the glass is flipped over for all to see, you have a multi-dimensional, semi-translucent, unique piece of art. The glass not only provides depth and dimension but also appears to glow when illuminated. See some examples here.
Each piece of mixed media glass art produced by Sharon Aach is hand-painted and one-of-a-kind. While Sharon can create similar pieces, no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

Sharon Aach only uses tempered glass which is four times stronger, and more impact- and scratch-resistant as compared to non-treated glass. If broken, the glass breaks down into small pebble-like pieces.
SaachArt does not recommend putting this art outside. Like most art, it should be protected from the elements, especially when transported.
